Mayberg Foundation Hosts Hebrew Language Education Experts to Shape Innovative Program for Neurodiverse Learners
/A powerhouse team of Jewish educational experts convened at the Mayberg Foundation offices to advance the local implementation of Hebrew at the Center's Pritzat Derech program. This program facilitates Hebrew language instruction for neurodiverse learners, including those with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.
Led by Pritzat Derech Project Manager Sarah Rubinson Levy, the three-day planning session brought together key collaborators: Hebrew at the Center CEO Andrew Ergas and Chief of Staff and Director of Education Dr. Esty Gross; Gateways Director of Professional Learning and Consultation Brian Coonley; The Shefa School Head of Teaching and Learning Rebecca Ritter; Prizmah Chief Program and Strategy Officer Marc Wolf; and Scott Goldberg Consulting Principal Scott Goldberg.
The group engaged in strategic discussions to design a bold and thoughtful pilot program, addressing critical questions about empowering educators, building inclusive teaching structures, and fostering cultural shifts in schools to seamlessly support all learners. Their collective expertise and shared vision promise to create a meaningful ripple effect in Hebrew education nationwide.
To ground their work in local context, the team sought guidance from JEIC Managing Director Sharon Freundel, who provided valuable insights into the collaborative culture and Hebrew language education approaches across the Greater Washington area. Her deep understanding of the parent communities at Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy, Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School, and Gesher Jewish Day School helped shape the team's strategic planning for these partner institutions.
