“Anchored Below, Aimed Above”: Amatz Summer Conference Advances Spiritual Jewish Learning for Girls
/Amatz, a Mayberg Foundation partner, recently hosted its annual summer conference for girls’ school leaders under the theme “The Ultimate Paradox: Anchored Below, Aimed Above.” The event, attended by Mayberg Foundation Senior Advisor for Education Grants and Programs Rachel Abrahams, focused on empowering educators to ground students in the enduring values of foundational Judaism while inspiring them to reach for spiritual and personal growth.
Speakers highlighted that Jewish learning should inspire positivity and meaning for every student, with the most lasting lessons coming from teachers’ actions and the values they model. A central focus was the Amatz curriculum, developed with Mayberg Foundation support, which centers on the Six Constant Mitzvot and integrates emunah (faith) and bitachon (trust) through Project Based Learning to foster creativity, critical thinking, and personal development.
The introduction of Devorah Lessin as the new project director signals Amatz’s ongoing commitment to expanding its impact. With continued support from the Mayberg Foundation, Amatz aims to help more schools embrace a vision where students are both anchored in tradition and inspired to aim above, fulfilling their potential as proud, engaged members of the Jewish community.
