Symbols of Strength: Mezuzot Arrive on the Frontlines of Ukraine

Aggie Grossman, MyZuzah’s associate director of engagement, shared an updated about MyZuzah’s Jewish Pride Campaign efforts to support and connect the Jewish community in Ukraine through the mitzvah of mezuzah.

It is a privilege to see the tangible impact of MyZuzah’s Jewish Pride Campaign. We recently received an inspiring update from our partner in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, that serves as a beautiful reminder of why we do this work.

Despite a barrage of bombardments and attacks, the mezuzot we sent have arrived safely and are being installed in homes throughout the community. Our partner shared: “Thank God, we are safe, but it has been a very difficult situation. In times like these, the mezuzot bring people an even greater sense of comfort, protection, and strength.”

In a war-torn country, a mezuzah is more than a ritual object; it is a transformational symbol of resilience and a proud affirmation of Jewish identity. This campaign was launched in the wake of the Bondi Beach attacks—through the generosity of an anonymous donor—to promote Jewish pride and connection in the face of global uncertainty.

The feedback has been profound. In a recent email, our partner noted, “People are deeply grateful and often say they have no words to express their appreciation. It truly feels like an act of saving lives, and we are very thankful for your support in making this possible.”

We are honored to stand alongside partners dedicated to fostering Jewish identity. By helping families place a mezuzah on their doorposts, we are doing more than fulfilling a mitzvah—we are helping individuals reclaim their heritage and find peace within their own homes. We look forward to continuing this meaningful journey, one doorway at a time.
