SHARE Fund and the Mayberg Foundation Launch Fellowship to Empower Women Educators in Pnimiyut HaTorah

A new fellowship aims to create a groundswell of empowered women educators who can mainstream and amplify the inner realms of Torah in their communities. The SHARE Fellowship in Pnimiyut HaTorah, jointly supported by SHARE Fund and the Mayberg Foundation, launched on October 18 with an inaugural cohort of 24 accomplished educators. Over a full year of serious, structured learning in primary texts of Pnimiyut HaTorah, the inner, or spiritual, dimension of the Torah, the fellows study as a chaburah (cohort) with like-minded master educators, so that their understanding rests on the texts themselves.

The course was developed and is being taught by Rebbetzin Yehudis Golshevsky, the founder of Shiviti, who serves as the fellowship’s educational director. For three decades she has taught Torah to women in Jerusalem and around the world, among them Mayberg Foundation President and Trustee Manette Mayberg, who has supported Shiviti’s work for a number of years. SHARE, a funder that also operates its own programs and cares deeply about connecting to God, runs the fellowship.
The fellowship will produce more educators who can teach content that is rarely taught in most schools and communities today. The women are from the US and Israel, and all teach English-speaking audiences. Fellows in Jerusalem meet in person on Sunday evenings while others join online, and the year includes a retreat in February and capstone projects in June.
Mayberg Foundation Senior Advisor for Education Grants and Programs Rachel Abrahams, who attended the opening session in Jerusalem, said, “It was wonderful to see such a committed and learned group of women who are interested to spend a year building their capacity as educators. We look forward to following this cohort and seeing the impact of their learning out in the field once they have completed the course.”
