State of the STa"M Industry Report Now Available in Print

The STa”M Project (STAMP), a Mayberg Foundation parnter, announces the print publication of its comprehensive educational presentation on the STa"M industry and the ongoing work of STAMP. This booklet, recently distributed to community rabbonim at the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) convention, offers an in-depth analysis of the factors that have contributed to challenges within the STa"M industry, outlines the rigorous standards required for the creation of STa"M articles, and details the significant criteria that have been overlooked in recent decades. Most importantly, it highlights the concrete steps STAMP is taking to address each of these concerns.

The booklet features several notable additions, including a reprint of the recent Jewish Action article, newly received haskamos (endorsements) from prominent American rabbinic authorities, and an interactive “test your skills” section. This exercise was designed to illustrate the complexity and nuance involved in STa"M inspection, demonstrating how easily a subtle p’sul (error) can be overlooked—an insight that surprised many readers.

Additionally, the booklet includes a curated list of websites offering STAMP-certified mezuzos. It is important to note that, just as the OU certifies meat but doesn’t sell it directly, STAMP certifies STa"M articles and those involved in their production, but does not engage in direct sales. This resource aims to assist community members seeking to purchase STAMP-certified STa"M.

STAMP remains committed to promoting transparency and excellence within the STa"M industry. We encourage community members and leaders to use this new resource, and welcomes ongoing feedback at aylessin@thestamproject.org as we continue our mission to uphold the highest standards in the field.
