The Mayberg Foundation mourns the sudden and shocking loss of Rabbi Moshe Hauer, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union (OU) and rabbi emeritus of Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion in Baltimore.
The Mayberg Foundation experienced Rabbi Hauer’s leadership, dedication, and good counsel firsthand through numerous collaborative initiatives, including STAMP, which is revolutionizing the world of safrus (Jewish scribal arts); the groundbreaking Jewish Outreach Professional Development project; and longstanding OU programs such as NCSY and JLIC. Mayberg Foundation President Manette Mayberg served alongside Rabbi Hauer in her role as a national senior vice president of the OU.
As the OU shared, “Rabbi Hauer uplifted those around him and made an impact on every person he encountered.” We are privileged to have collaborated with him. His loss will be felt here in Maryland and throughout the Jewish world.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Hauer family, the OU, members of Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion in Baltimore, where Rabbi Hauer served as beloved rabbi for more than a quarter of a century, and indeed to all of Klal Yisrael. May his memory be a blessing and his legacy continue to inspire and motivate our actions for years to come.
